All about $COQ inu

So, what is $COQ inu ?

Essentially it is a meme coin. What started out initially as a complete meme, with, as stated on their own website as "A community coin, with no intrinsic value, or expectation of financial return. There is no formal team or roadmap. Thee coin is for entertainment purposes only" has now grown into a bit of a beast, with a hell of a lot going on.

See our Collection of $COQ inu Merch here

There's the obvious fun element to the coin. It's called $COQ for heavens sake, so there's coq jokes, coq puns all over, which never really get old do they. But there is more to it than that, there's a real community feel to the hype around it. Their website also states that it was "Born from a collective friendship, deeply routed in memetics and humour, coq inu is not your average meme coin - it's a way of life. it certainly feels like it is becoming a way of life and all of this since it's launch in December 2023.

It was launched fairly, with its contract renounced and no dev allocation. This is a great way to launch a token as this means that the devs/founders cannot make changes to the contract, ie: adding more tokens to dilute the price etc, as they also had no initial allocation, this means that the devs/founders and all of those involved at the start had to market buy their tokens, just like you, or I would, so there's less chance of them dumping the tokens on the market, selling out and leaving holders to pick up the pieces. This is is defi, these things do happen so to know that it had the fair launch is always a good thing, it shows intent to build a community from the start.

Its contract address which you can see on snow trace is 0x420FcA0121DC28039145009570975747295f2329

$COQ was launched with 69.420 Trillion tokens

Since its launch it has done something which is pretty impressive in such a short space of time. $COQ has grown a community, now this is a pretty impressive community. Just search $COQ on X and you will see, there's the obvious $COQ jokes, puns and memes, but there's something much more going on. The community is super engaged and definitely seems to be in it for more than just the meme aspect. This is a community you can actually feel like you are part of, there's meme competitions, giveaways and more. Now we do have a little disclaimer to make, that might make us a just a little biased, but, we're going to share it with you in the interests of transparency. I wouldn't be writing this now, if it wasn't for $COQ, as they opened up a hackathon, asking for the community to create projects to benefit the $COQ ecosystem and it was that very hackathon that gave me the kick up the bum to actually do something directly involved with the world of DeFi/web 3, so I have to give them flowers for that. I'll add a more detailed, personal post to this soon, to give you all a bit more background on me and how I got here.

one of the main things that we did super refreshing about %COQ are the devs, instead of just being unknown mysteries they are upfront, out there and constantly talking about the project, working, building, coming up with things to drive the project forward, which for holders is a huge plus.

Founded by Wojak and Gribbly, these guys are on X, you can follow them at the links below. They are present, they engage, they speak, which inspires trust.

There's also the awesome podcast hosted on spaces, or Bokcast as they call it (BOK BOK !) is the greeting used by the $COQ community. It's super informative and has great guests on, talking about all things $COQ, but also the wider crypto market, safety in the space and community projects, it's well worth a listen to find out a little more about the token and their plans. Check them on X, there's links to previous shows too.

Going forward there's a lot to come from $COQ and it's community with talks of events and most interestingly much more utility being added. There's talk of a whole subnet being built, what this means is that $COQ would have it's own subnet, built on $AVAX, which would enable so much more for $COQ as it would then become it's own "thing" the possibilities that this would mean for token usage then become insane as lots of other dAPPS and more could be built on top of this, which could all use $COQ as the native gas token, meaning lots of possibilities for earning with your $COQ (Sorry, you just can't resist).

At the time of writing this, there was a lot of excitement around the Avalanche Culture Catalyst fund, who had previously announced that they are going to start supporting and importantly buying and holding meme coins. Avalanche founder Emin, also spoke in detail on his podcast about the positive influence that meme tokens have on the space as a whole. They have recently announced the criteria that they will be looking for, to decide which coins they will support and based on the criteria things are looking good for $COQ to be included. Obviously this is crypto and so nothing is ever certain, but as the number one meme coin on Avax, you would thing this is a match that fits. Indeed on this announcement, $COQ pumped over 30%, even at a time when the market itself was tanking.

So, the future does look bright for $COQ and meme coins as a whole.

We are big fans of meme coins, they are the perfect way to bring both new users to crypto, but also to add a little fun and life into existing users and also make some serious money for even the most seasoned DeFi deigns.

It's also on the a number of DEX (decentralised exchange)

Trader Joe

Dexalot

Pharoah

There's different ways for each, but they will be very similar if you are familiar with how the various exchanges work.

For us personally our favourite way is Trader Joe, via Metamask.

You would need to have a Metamask wallet already, which you can get here

Download Metamask for browser / IOS / Android

Then you will need to add an Avalanche Wallet to your Metamask.

You can purchase crypto directly via Metamask, first you will need to purchase some $AVAX, which is the native token to the Avalanche network.

Here's how to do this.

In your Metamask wallet, hit the "Buy" button.

This will open up the available payment options.

We find that Apple Pay is the easiest, but this obviously depends if you have it set up.

You then click "Continue to amount" This will allow you to purchase your $AVAX. You can type the amount that you want to spend in your local currency.

This will take you to an available option to choose from to process your payment, this can be a payment gateway like Moonpay, Transak or others. Therse can have slightly different rates, so just be sure to check those.

You can choose your payment provider and then proceed.

The different providers have slightly different processes, for example you might need to add your email address and/or verify this with a code.

Once you have gone through these steps, you should have a little pop up saying that your purchase is succesful. It should then appear in your Metamask wallet. It can take. a few minutes, especially if the network is busy.

Sometimes the purchase can take a little longer, so if this is the case, just check your email as they may have sent you an update explaining the delay.

So you should now have $AVAX showing in your Metamask wallet, so now you need to swap this for $COQ. We like to do this on Trader Joe, which is a great dex for Avalanche based tokens. The easiest, best and safest way to do this is by using the browser that is in your Metamask wallet.

To access this, hit the 3 blue bars in the top left hand corner, this will bring up the menu options. Click Browser

On the Browser tab, head to Trader Joe, the link here. Then click Swap.

This will bring up the swap page. You will select AVAX in the From box, add how much you want to swap.

Then select COQ in the To box and it will show you how much $COQ you will get, based on the current price, like below.

Always remember that you will need to leave some $AVAX in your wallet to cover the gas fees. Gas is the charge that you pay for every transaction on the network. When you are on the Avalanche network, this will be $AVAX. So for example, if you have 1 $AVAX, you will need to swap for example 0.9 $AVAX, to leave some in to pay for the gas. The gas does vary and we'll talk about that in another post.

Hit swap when you're happy to change.

The first time you do this you will have to authorise the use of your $AVAX, this will be charged a gas fee, this is perfectly normal.

Then you can click to actually swap your $AVAX for $COQ.

You will see a pop up saying processing, then shortly after one confirming and then you are now the proud owner of $COQ.

You should see the option to add $COQ to your wallet, this means that you will be able to see your $COQ balance in your Metamask wallet.

If you don't add it, it will still be there, but you it won't show. There's another article here on how to manually add a token to your Metamask wallet.

So, you are now the proud owner of some $COQ, THE meme coin of the Avalanche chain.

There's loads of things to do with your $COQ, with more being added, so check our blog for updates on that.
